My
favorite song is “Marry You”. Marry you is a song by Bruno Mars, released as
his fourth album. Marry you incorporates influences of reggae and R&B.
There is my own special story about this song. I did not actually enjoy listening
to this music before my high school musical. My first high school musical is on
May, in my junior year. Before the musical, since I wanted to sing, I was
looking at the bulletin board where lists of songs are attached. First song I
noticed was Marry You by Bruno Mars because one of my favorite singers is him.
The theme of our musical was Glee so Marry you was covered by two duet singers
in television show Glee. I asked one of my classmates to sing with me and
prepared for an audition. After audition for few days, the final singers of
Marry You were Me, Seri, Joon and Taek Han. For May Musical, we started to
practice regularly not only at school but also at home. All the lead singers
left school earlier than the others because of rehearsal. My group took Taek
Han’s car and arrived at Fiesta where musical was held. As we practiced Marry
You almost for 2 months, we had great teamwork and got along one another. We
played some games during rehearsal and I and Taek Han were the ones who lost.
After rehearsal, we started a high school musical. I was sitting on the ground
right in front of the stage with some juniors and seniors. Eventually, our group’s turn came and I
teamed up with Joon on the left side and Seri and TaeK Han teamed up on the
right side. With our beautiful voices, the musical was successfully finished.
And one week away from the musical, Taek Han told me I turned him on. And that
was one week before his graduation. He just treated me well for a week and
after graduation he left Saipan. I missed him unconsciously and so did he. He
asked me for going to Everland with him in Korea and I met him. The first time
we met in Korea was June in GangNam subway station. We went to Seoul N tower
that day and had a great time. And we hung out every day and finally or somehow
are in a relationship. We have gotten to know each other and been happy together.
As we talked about the past and old things, we found out that like iron filings
to a magnet, we were irresistibly drawn to each other. WE ARE MEANT TO BE!
Anyways, this song “Marry you” remains special song for us and that song
reminds us of our special day and fresh memories. We often enjoy singing this
song together as we looking back before.

Three things I will take to a deserted Island
If I would go to a deserted island, I will
bring 3 things or 3 people. There are two options for me.
If I would take 3 things to a deserted
island, I would, of course, take a knife so that I could use it for hunting
wild animals, getting fruits in the forests, and building a temporary shelter
out of woods. Second, I should have a boat so that whenever I want to leave
this Island , I could escape from there. But this is somewhat ironic because I
would stay no longer than 3 days if I have a boat which allows me to escape. Third,
I would bring a compass so that I will know what direction I am going while
traveling so that I will no be lost. Being lost is the most fearful or
dangerous especially in a deserted Island . If I have a chance, the compass should be Johnny Dep’s. It’s magical compass which
automatically finds the direction of my destination.
If I would take 3 people, first, I would
choose someone who have life surviving skills in and Island – someone who could make fire by using the things found only in that place,
could hunt wild animals, knows the kinds of plants and fish, build a temporary shelter
out of the woods. It might be hard to find someone like that. But I would find
it anyway and hope it would be someone like my parents, friends or close
people. Second, I would choose someone who knows geography so that we will not
be lost if we are going to leave the island and travel by sea. While I am writing
this, I am thinking of Johnny Dep of Pirates of Caribbean. With him, I would
not be fear of anything else but the fact is that he is a pirate. He might try
to find treasures in a deserted Island but who cares. The key point is not getting lost. Third, I would choose
someone who knows first aid and herbal medicine so that if ever we get sick,
there is someone who could take care of us and cure us. In the forests, many
unknown plants would be existed and threaten our lives. He or she would be in
charge of health and knowledge of plants.
As I mentioned above, those are things I want
to take in order to survive in a deserted Island . I might want to take my family and my boyfriend or husband with me
but I will leave them on our town so they could come and rescue me. These days,
there is a TV program show called The rules of Jungle. It shows how normal
people would survive in jungles where no one has touched or been. It is really
interesting and something that we should watch just in case we are stuck in the
middle of the deserted island.

The best advice
The best advice was when I was in 8th
grade. The 8th grade and the 9th grade are the time when
people attain adolescence. I did not know that I was a girl at puberty. As I
remember now, I got so sensitive and had a desire of disobedience. Since I was
young, I was a kid who did not listen any nagging from mother or others. I did
my work on my own and nobody needed to take care of me since I was already done
with everything I had to do. I also had been a nice daughter who always brought
happiness and pride to my mother and father. They always say good words to me
and I was the one who is popular for studying, courtesy, kindness, sociality,
and leadership. However, I reached a great puberty more harshly than others
did. When I was in 8th grade, I had a first, new, boyfriend. I did
not want to have a boyfriend at that age but as you know, it’s not the thing that I could control as whatever I wanted to do. My
mother found out that I had a boyfriend and at the first time, I guess that she
was okay with it. However, I, who used to be a top in class, started to collapse
my own images by wrongdoings. I still could not understand why I was like that
before. My mind was full of garbage such as skipping classes, telling a lie,
going to karaoke every night, and not studying. After school, I was supposed to
go to an academy every day. I made great excuses almost everyday to skip
academy. Of course, I didn’t let my mother know it. I
called the academy and said that I am sick or have to do something for school.
And the academy would not call my mother to say that I am not at academy since
I already called. Instead of going to an academy, I went to Karaoke with my
friends, went to max rider 3D theater, and had yummy dinner. At the time when
the academy ends, I went home and acted that I was at an academy. This cycle
was repeated over and over. Eventually, there was an event that my mother found
out all the lies. My mother came to academy to pay my tuition and of course, I
was not there. I did not know those things so I just went to academy car to go
home. But behind the academy car, my mother’s car was there. I felt something strange and unlucky. My mother was
walking towards me with very very angry face. Even though I somewhat understood
what was going on, I still acted that I was from an academy. That night, I was about
to die. Maybe almost dead. But I did not recognize the situation and did it
again later on. I was caught again and scolded by my father. My parents were
disappointed at me so much. I finally realized and fully understood what I had
done when something serious happened and heard the conversation between my mom
and dad. I was disappointed at myself and hated myself. I returned to a person
with original mind. I still felt sorry and bad for my parents and that time
period. I love my mom and dad J

I am most guilty of
Gluttony is what I am most guilty of. I don’t really get lazy
or angry easily but can not control eating. As a result, I have gained a lot of
weights since I came to Saipan . When I was in middle
school, I was raised by my lovely mother and father in Korea . At that time, I did
not have any ideas of gaining or losing weights. My every day life was like
this. I go to school, and take classes. After school, I practice jump-rope in
my club. My mom picks me up, and then I have snacks on my way to academy. The
time when I am in an academy is when a normal person eats dinner. After I
finish from my academy, I go home and have dinner at 11 p.m. which is the time for
a normal person to sleep. I eat, take a little break, do my homework, and go to
bed around 2 a.m. This was my routine
life when I was in Korea . I came to Saipan since 9th
grade and decided to stay with Americans. I did not have any clues of what they
eat but only knew few general foods such as hamburgers, spaghetti, and pizza.
At that time, I thought I could bear them and make a living well. For Koreans
such as me, it was hard to have American diet since it did not fill up our
stomachs. I usually get hungry easily and always look for some food when I feel
empty or boring. Being boring and being hungry are two different concepts.
However, unconsciously, when I get bored, I usually go to kitchen and find
something to eat. That was what I usually did when I first came to Saipan . After one year, I
went back to Korea and my mother and all
the others were surprised at me. I gained so much weights that my pretty face
turned out not that pretty. I was shocked as well when I tried my old clothes.
When I met my friends, they were also surprised at me and I was stressed out.
The problem was that I get so greedy or whatever when I see and eat food. Since
I was doing homestay, I pay for my all eating and living things. Perhaps, I
thought my homestay fee would be wasted if I do not eat fully. So I start to
eat more and more and when I see food that I am fond of, I could not stop
eating. Of course, I got all the results from that. I feel my body heavy and
unhealthy. There was nothing I can do but to regret. This guilt has been really
hard for me to fix. I tired to be on a diet so many times but I found myself
giving up after 3 days. And I get yo-yo effect from that which makes me fatter.
I try myself not to be greedy or gluttony and to let them go. I should eat healthier
and lightly by having more vegetables than meat or bread.

The most memorable family trip
The most
memorable family trip is one-day trip to Nami Island. (Namiseom) Two years ago,
my family was thinking of plans for a New Year’s Day. Since my family had been
apart for few years, summer and winter break was special to us. My mother heard
that Nami Island is truly beautiful and also romantic. My family willingly
agreed with it and went on a trip to Nami Island on New Year ’s Day in 2012.
Nami Island is
located in Chuncheon-si, Kangwon-do where my father grew up. On our way to Nami Island, the scenery of the mountains and nature
around was surprisingly beautiful. I woke up because of the conversation
between mom and dad looking for a spot to park. There were lots of visitors
including foreigners and Koreans. This small Island is famous for “Winter
Sonata” drama in 2002. I remembered watching that drama with my mom when I was
in 2nd grade. This Island has been gaining popularity thanks to
winter sonata. Apparently, Nami Island declared its cultural independence. Like
other independent republics, Naminara Republic has its own national flag,
anthem, passport, postage stamps, telephone cards, written characters, papers,
and currency. There was literally immigration after I bought a ticket. The
ticket was for an entry visa. It was somewhat interesting that this small
Island has its own republic. The people were so crowd to enter the wharf to
board the ferry. Because of the cold weather, people couldn’t get out of the
ferry but just stayed inside to watch the blocks of ice floating at the sea.
Reaching Nami
Island, we noticed the statue wearing red top. Walking into the island along
the straightway starting from the Nami Island, I found a grave and wondered
whose grave it was. It said that the tomb is for Gneral Nami who was a notable
figure in battles and Nami Island was named after him. I did not know that Nami
Island would have some kind of history. The ground was all covered with white
snow and there were wooden characters, model of snowman, and small bonfire.
Also, as a winter sonata location, many foreigners were taking pictures in
front of photos of two main characters. The most memorable things were trees
reaching sky. The trees are not that thick but so long that it seems to reach
the blue sky. The ground is all covered with white snow so the whole scenery of
the lane presents a great sight. A stroll along the coastline made us enjoy and
appreciate the nature and white winter. My family took a lot of pictures and
ate some Korean Traditional snack that we can buy at a small booth while
walking around.
This trip to
Nami Island is the most memorable family trip as I remember, because we could
celebrate a New Year’s day meaningfully and could truly enjoy and appreciate
the nature and the fact that my family members are all gathered up
together.
Metaphor of love
My metaphor of love is looking in the mirror. Love is something that you
could see yourself from your lover. Love like a mirror reflects the beauty and
sometimes teaches you lesson and flaws. By looking in the mirror, you could see
the things that you do not want to see or the things that you could not see. It
makes you accept those things naturally. In front of the mirror, all the flaws
or deficiency are reflected. In front of a lover, a person’s true colors show. Even
though you want to be less expressive or to hide yourself, the way you are is
reflected by a mirror. Love is like this. Through my lover, I could see myself.
I sense I am becoming like him and he is becoming like me. In front of him, I
am not pretending to be someone else but just being me. He reflects my beauty,
or sometimes teaches me something I am lack of or flaws to fix. Sometime he
sees something that I could not see from myself. Whatever it is good or not, I
accept it and he makes me accept it willingly. This is love. I, of course, do
not fully understand what love is. Or I am not even close to what true or real
love is. However, just looking at him makes me happy and makes me feel alive.
If he is happy, I am happy. If he feels not good, neither do I. I or he did not
mean to do that but this is just spontaneous and unconditioned feeling. As I
see myself from him, he might see himself from me. As we look at each other, we
both accept and understand just the way we are. This would not change as time
goes by. A mirror will not show my youth or young appearance when I am old. It
will show the way it sees. Love is like the reflection of me in the mirror. You
love what you see and you feel happy when you see. I wish and am sure that he
feels the same as I do. As people carry a mirror with them, I want my lover to
be always close to me and next to me. It is usually hard to understand the
difference and accept it. The difference or flaws would not go away even if you
do not want to look in the mirror. Trust and care are two keys to have a successful
and beautiful relationship. I am always trying to keep in this relationship
harmoniously and it is not hard for me to do so. I like him, and I love him. To
me, saying love is not easy. I don’t really love someone quickly or easily but
rather take much room for consideration and seriousness. I don’t like people
who fall in love quickly and thinks that he or she finds true love or whatever.
It is just a crush. Nothing more. But my feeling is different. I want him to be
close to me and on my side.

New Year's resolution
Welcome back! It’s
2013. People all around the world are ready to see the old year out and the New
Year in. Some might get excited to welcome a new year or some might regret the
old days and plan out for new beginnings.
As everyone has
been saying, a diet is one of my new year’s resolutions. A decision to be on a
diet has actually made since I was in Saipan. For three days of diet, I am
doing really well and very strict to my healthy menu. Afterwards, I end up
being on a diet in front of a great temptation of food. But this time, I have
to lose some weights and go back to my original weights. I have gained so much
since I stayed with American Family in Saipan. After a successful diet, I could
be prettier and could buy new slim size clothes that fit me perfectly. Then, I
would not shame on myself when I meet my middle-school friends this May. I
would eat less, adjust what I eat, control myself to overcome temptation of
lovely foods, and exercise regularly. I consider this time as a last chance.
This year, I will be stricter in my self-discipline and self-care.
From this
moment, I am not a teenager anymore. I am turning into an adult who is
literally permitted to buy alcohols and cigarettes. I don’t even need a legal guardian
but should take my own responsibility and protection. Getting out of teens and
being a part of twenties is always a thing that I had dreamt of. When it comes
to reality, I feel anxious and exciting at the same time because the more
opportunities I get the more various results are. Also, this is a year for me
to graduate from high school and get into colleges. Going to college is a key
to open the first door of my twenties. Since I have decided to go to school in
Korea, I would study harder than before and try to get all A’s (or even better)
in every class. Even though I already finished the applications for colleges in
states, I would not be lazy or fall into idleness. I would keep up with current
events though comments, newspaper or books. The age of 20 should know how the
things are going on in different countries.
The more
opportunities I get, the more challenges I get. After I graduate from high
school, I will learn how to play the guitar and how to swim. Two skills are the
most attractive activities that I want to learn. Last year, I was mesmerized by
an actor’s guitar performance in the movie called “August Rush”. After that
movie, I start to like stringed instruments. I already bought a guitar so all I
have to do is practice and practice! When I was young, I was drowned at public bath
and my grandmother saved me. Afterwards, I have been afraid of floating on the
water. This year, I will take away the fear and try to learn how to swim in
order to protect or save myself.
The most
exciting resolution is devoting as a good daughter to my parents. I will
eventually graduate from high school in Saipan and live with my own family.
Even though my brother is in army right now, I am so happy to be with my family
again. It has been a long time for my family to stay together since I and my brother
have studied abroad. I will make up for lost times and do my best to be a best
daughter to my parents.
